Four Principles to Realize the Benefits of OCP for the Data Centre Facility
OCP enables a lot of benefits for the datacenter facility, not only for the ICT gear. The deployment of OCP hardware is increasing fast now, but where are the savings for the facility?    The principles of OCP; Efficiency, Scale, Openness and Impact are also valid for the datacenter facility. Although with choosing OCP big benefits are predicted for the facility design and operations, the revolution in the facility it is not quite visible yet.    In this working session presentation, the OCP optimised data centre facility design principles are explained how to realize and maximize OCP deployment for your facility. Topics discussed are among others   Data Centre Facility CAPX costs (not ICT gear), construction en fit-out time comparrison related to traditional Uptime Tier III Data Centre Facility but also energy efficiency, and operational and maintenance savings.    Additional to these principles also some statements will be positioned to follow up between the OCP datacenter stream and other OCP streams to discuss combined benefit opportunities. As an example the definition of the OCP optimise data centre facility service level agreement.     Stijn de Kruijf, working with Royal HaskoningDHV, a large and independent engineering company, is contributing datacenter facility design for over 15 years. In this period he is involved in large colo-cation, hyperscale and wholesale datacenters.

Analysis of Data Center Electrical Architectures Supporting Open Compute Project
Open Compute has had a significant impact on the thinking about data center design. This topic, addresses critical questions about the implications of Open Compute on the upstream power infrastructure, including redundancy, availability, and flexibility. We introduce simplified reference  designs that support OCP and provide a capital cost analysis to compare traditional and OCP-based designs. We also present an online TradeOff Tool that allows data center decision makers to better understand the cost differences and cost drivers to various architectures.

OCP Ready Colocation Facility Pilot Program
The OCP Data Center Facility Project completed the development of the OCP Colocation Facility Guidelines and Checklist with collaboration by the OCP community. The Guidelines assist a Colocation Facility Provider in understanding the unique requirements of Open Compute Racks, Power, and Hardware. The Checklist allows the Provider to assess their facility/facilities compliance to the Acceptable and Optimum requirements.     The OCP Foundation developed the requirements and process for a Colocation Facility Provider to become a listed Solution Provider on the OCP Marketplace. The Facility Provider must perform an assessment of their facility using the available Scorecard, which is to be presented and reviewed by the Data Center Facility Project Community and the Incubation Committee. The Facility Provider must also meet all requirements set forth by the OCP Foundation.    The Beta Release was provided to two Facility Providers with locations in the EMEA region. The EMEA region has been identified as a primary region for OCP technology growth and identifying Colocation Facility Providers as a key driver in facilitating the use of OCP Hardware by promoting qualified data center white space for deployments. This presentation will cover feedback offered by the Facility Providers which participated in the Beta Program and the integration into the General Availability Program.
